If there's one constant we've learned from looking back these past few years, it's easy to see that the deep desire of feeling connected to our family, friends, and community at large is frankly quite important. Each one brings us a different type of feeling; joy, empathy, and support. Truth is, we all crave this inwardly affection - it's what being human is about.

I believe when I say this, I'm not alone that when it comes to gift giving this time of year. Our choice of presents, either giving or receiving, has shifted in numerous ways, much like many of the traditions we've become accustomed to when celebrating this special time of year.

Having family visit from across the world has been replaced with virtual video calls & greetings. In-person gift giving has given way to online shopping and direct deliveries. Or opting only to give those special, one of a kind pieces that have true lasting-value and purpose.

These new methods of celebration then raises the question - how do you recreate these same experiences online? To start, I'm glad you've stuck along so far with us because now, we've got some ideas to share with you, whether you're celebrating with your close circle or loved ones, these tips will sure shake things up!

    Creating Connections with One Another

When it comes to thoughtful and beautiful presents sure to hold its merit, think about gifts where sharing knowledge, ideas, and expressing love is the main purpose. This can include a plethora of books & literature of all kinds from fiction, fantasy, design, history, and photography.

Decorative homewares is another holiday gift idea that can be both sentimental and beautiful. Artworks of various mediums and meanings is a great conversation starter and a fantastic way to get to know each other better. They're easily collectable items and overtime become part of you.

There's a growing trend of sending digital greeting cards to your loved ones but don't forget, a physical heartfelt message on a greeting card will never go out of style!

Choose Purposeful Gifts Over Materialistic Reasons

Now consider (and I mean really consider) what type of gifts you're planning to give, whether that's through online means or in person experience - the purpose of the gift is much more imperative than ever before. Rather than buying a plethora of meaningless clothes, electronics, or chocolates, try gifting unique presents made using all-natural ingredients, or supporting a local cause when shopping for your loved ones.

We suggest to avoid creating additional litter and clutter through this busy season, which often shows an increase in our consumption & waste. Our Sustainable Gift Wrapping Ideas highlights various alternatives and help keep waste to a minimum.

With all that is happening in our current global situation, we can recognize that not everyone is looking for the newest and shiniest electronic out there. People are looking for timeless value that is either incredibly handy to their lifestyle, or improves their overall well-being.

    Consider New Ways to Celebrate

You may recall that we've mentioned that the rise of digital experiences has come to shine over the many traditions we've come to love celebrating with our family & friends - going out and shopping for presents together, organizing gift exchanges, and hosting a large evening feast.

These traditions, like many things that change throughout time, should be looked back at with an open mind for other new and exciting ventures.

Try secret gift exchanges through direct deliveries such as drop-shipping. This is an excellent way if you're looking to keep traditions alive while testing new methods to celebrate. You'll still be able to give meaningful gifts while spending time with guests and being connected with loved ones from afar, or vice-versa. The days of missing a family dinner because you need to be physically present at another event might just be resolved.

Another practice that could really transform the way you connect and celebrate is by adopting unfamiliar holidays into your calendar events. Christmas, Chinese New Years, Ramadan, Bodhi Day, Diwali, and Hanukkah just to name a few if you don't already celebrate these.

It may require a little research and understanding what traditions apply to which holiday, but that's half the fun! If you're aware you won't offend anyone wanting to join the celebration you can even put a spin on it. Add a color scheme of gold & black or incorporate a banquet supper that reflects that particular celebration (ex: Sufganiyot for Hanukkah).

We hope after reading our post today you were able to gain a little more knowledge and try out new ways to connect with your family and friends if you haven't already. Thank you for taking the time to read our blog!  If there was ever a time to look back at the way we did things, it's to see how far we've come and what we can learn for the better. That surely is something worth celebrating.
